Gay Marriage..

equality

So gay marriage is a heavily debated topic in today’s world, especially since President Obama wants to legalize gay marriage. Personally, I am 100% for gay married and equality for all, however others disagree, which I’m okay with. I think it’s very important for someone to have their own opinion and express their opinion. However, I do not agree with violence or aggression. Just because you believe in gay marriage, that doesn’t give you the right to call someone an “asshole” or a “prick”. And it goes the same for those who are against it. Being hostile is not helping either side of the argument, in fact it’s creating a more hateful world. I think its important to remember that shoving your opinion or belief down someone’s throat is not helping the cause. I personally believe if you want things to change, you need to be peaceful and patient. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. led the Civil Rights movement, however not everyone was on board with this movement at first, or even accepted the idea. But he did not give up, Martin fought violence with peace and patience, and it worked. Back to opinions, I think its important for people to express them whether you think its right or wrong. You wouldn’t want someone to be afraid to express their opinion out of fear of being judged just as you wouldn’t want a young boy to be afraid to come out to his parents or friends. As for Gay marriage or any other issue, you have to be patient, persistent, and most important, peaceful.
